We have recently completed a research contract for Guerrilla, the developers of Killzone.

Following the success of the initial undertaking, we are now working on a longer-term graphics research and development effort for the studio. We're delighted to be working on such an interesting and challenging project.

Website changes

You may notice a few changes as we update our website. Most obviously, business news has been moved to the front page to make it easier to find.

Other changes, such as the additional navigation links for sub-pages and in the image galleries, are relatively small, but we hope they are useful to you.

If you are looking for Will's personal pages, you can find a link in the menu on the right-hand side, or you can access them here:

If you find that any broken URLs or have any other problems, please do report them to us so we can fix them.

Powerdrome is Gold!

Powerdrome thumbnail

We're very pleased to announce that Powerdrome has been released to manufacturing and should be in shops very soon!

Powerdrome is a high-octane futuristic racing game set in a utopian society. When everything you need is provided, and illness and death have been eliminated by advanced technology, what excitement is left?

The answer: Powerdrome! Humans, aliens and androids race jet-powered blades at the speed of sound. As they ride the knife-edge between death and glory, a universe watches, and holds its breath...

Powerdrome has been developed and enhanced for the PC by Second Intention under contract to Applied Atomics, and is being published by ZOO Digital Publishing.

Powerdrome for the PC

Second Intention is handling the development work for the PC version of Powerdrome, to be released by ZOO Digital Publishing in 2005.

We're delighted to see Powerdrome released for the PC at long last, and we can reveal that the PC version will look and play even better than the highly-regarded Xbox original.

Bleeding-edge visual effects will push your video card further. Subtle gameplay tweaks ensure that nothing gets between you and total victory in the fastest and most dangerous racing series in the known worlds.

Media Design School event

MDS logo

Will is going to be at the Media Design School 'Career Cheats' event, along with other industry professionals, to talk about the games business and answer questions from prospective students.

You can read more about the event on the NZGDA forums. It should be an excellent opportunity to find out more about the games industry from insiders, and to see what the MDS Game Development course can offer you.

You can also pit your wits against the much-feared gaming quiz.

We've added information about Edge of Chaos and our most recent project, Worldlight, to the portfolio.

Edge of Chaos is a free-form space combat simulation which still looks stunning nearly four years after it was released, and Worldlight is the result of our research into advanced real-time lighting techniques for urban environments. Check out the portfolio pages for screenshots and more information.

Portfolio updated

Machineworks thumbnail Powerdrome thumbnail

We've added information about Powerdrome and MachineWorks to the portfolio.

MachineWorks is the industry standard CNC simulation toolkit from Lightwork Design, and Powerdrome is an exciting future-racer for PC and consoles. Have a look at the appropriate portfolio pages for more information.

New client: Media Design School

We are currently providing tuition for the Game Development course at the Media Design School in Auckland.

Will has been on-site in Auckland advising the 2004 Game Development class on the programming and production aspects of their final group project.

Second Intention website launched

Welcome to our new home on the web - we hope you enjoy your visit!

Building the site has been a learning exercise in web development, and we have adhered as closely as possible to web standards and best practices. Pages are created by a very simple roll-your-own CMS developed with PHP. It produces semantically marked-up XHTML pages with style and layout handled by CSS.

Please have a look around, read about us and the work we are doing, or head over to Will's personal section to see images of beautiful New Zealand.
