Cutting
The far side of the cutting hides the controls and another handhold. I'm not completely convinced by the lie of the land here, but it's probably as good as I'll get given the need to preserve the wooden top of the handwell. Possibly building up the the part of the hill inside the loop would help? The camel (complete with fez) should help give a sense of scale.
